As some of you might know, my refrigerator recently stopped working. I lost of a lot of food in the process and I’m impatiently awaiting the arrival of my new refrigerator. Chances are, it’s not going to be my dream refrigerator (Viking french door fridge), but at least it will be new and functional!
The last couple of days have been interesting because I’ve had to make sure nothing would spoil and had to work with a lot of dry/nonperishable ingredients. Thankfully, one of my favorite “dinners” is popcorn! Usually after working a 12 hour shift, I don’t always want to make a big dinner when I get home.
Popcorn + a glass of wine= Happiness!
I don’t usually buy microwave popcorn because of all of the chemicals. Instead, I use the best invention ever… The Whirley Pop! The Whirley Pop has been around for years and makes excellent popcorn in less than 3 minutes. You will almost never have an unpopped kernel and you can use as much or as little oil as you’d like when making the popcorn. For a low-fat version you can just spray the bottom of the pan with non-stick spray.
The Whirley Pop is available almost everywhere… Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, Amazon.com and on their website. They offer a great warranty too!
Your choice of oil or non-stick spray
*Optional- Melted butter and salt
1. Pour the oil or use non-stick spray into the bottom of the Whirley Pop with the popcorn kernels.
2. Place the Whirley Pop on high heat while turning the Whirley Pop hand crank.
3. Keep turning the crank until you no longer hear the popcorn popping.
*My batch took less than 2 minutes to pop!
